At Weniff, our mission has always been to bring the world’s most compelling cinematic stories to light, celebrating the artistry and talent that define global cinema. This year, we are happy to announce that one of the standout films from our previous edition, The Masterpiece, has earned an Oscar nomination in the Live Action Short Film category!
Directed by the talented Àlex Lora, The Masterpiece is yet another testament to the power of storytelling in short films. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to the entire film team for this incredible achievement. It’s moments like these that underscore the commitment Weniff holds in bringing high-quality films to our audience.
About The Masterpiece
The Masterpiece is the latest work from Àlex Lora, a director, screenwriter, and editor whose accolades include seven Emmy Awards, two Gaudí Awards, and a nomination for the Goya Awards. Lora’s illustrious career has seen his films featured at Sundance’s official competition three times and winning more than 100 awards at international festivals. His past works, such as Odysseus’ Gambit (2012), Thy Father’s Chair (2015), and The Fourth Kingdom (2019), have solidified his reputation as a masterful storyteller with an eye for nuanced narratives.
With The Masterpiece (co-written by Lluis Quilez and Alfonso Amador) Lora once again brings his signature blend of emotional depth and technical brilliance to the screen.
Weniff’s Commitment to Excellence
We are honored to have been a part of The Masterpiece’s journey. Its nomination highlights the incredible talent we aim to feature every year at Weniff, ensuring that our festival continues to be a platform for films that resonate deeply with audiences and industry professionals alike.
Congratulations to Àlex Lora and the entire team behind The Masterpiece! We can’t wait to see how it shines at the Oscars, and we are proud to have shared its magic with our Ålesund audience.
