At this year\u2019s festival, we are excited to present a special conversation between two key figures in Nordic film: film expert Kalle L\u00f8chen and award-winning director Izer Aliu. In this workshop, audiences will get a rare chance to hear about filmmaking, film history, and the creative process behind some of the most powerful stories on screen.<\/p>\n

During this masterclass, L\u00f8chen and Aliu will discuss films in general, the evolution of Nordic cinema, share personal experiences from their careers, and explore the challenges and triumphs of filmmaking. Through a great selection of film excerpts, including screenings of some of Aliu\u2019s works, they will illustrate key elements of storytelling, directing, and film analysis, offering attendees a deeper understanding of cinematic artistry.<\/p>\n

Izer Aliu will be the guest of honor at this year\u2019s festival!<\/strong>
He is a Norwegian-Macedonian filmmaker who graduated from The Norwegian Film School in 2012 with the short film To Guard the Mountain<\/em>. He has since directed two more short films: Det gode livet, der borte<\/em> (2014) and Crazy Love<\/em> (2018). He has also made two feature films: Hunting Flies<\/em> (2016) and 12 Dares<\/em> (2022), as well as the TV series Countrymen<\/em> (2021). He is currently pursuing a master\u2019s degree at The Norwegian Film School.<\/p>\n

In conversation with Kalle L\u00f8chen, Izer Aliu will discuss the process of developing film projects and how to cultivate a personal voice as a filmmaker. What influence do real-life events have on a fictional universe? Clips from his projects will be shown during the talk<\/p>\n

Kalle L\u00f8chen<\/strong>\u00a0brings decades of experience as a film critic, editor, and consultant, having played a key role in shaping the Nordic film landscape. His extensive work with the Norwegian Film Institute and various regional film centers has given him a unique perspective on both film history and contemporary cinema.<\/p>\n
