It’s Weniff LAB week and seeing our fantastic group of young people working together, makes us really happy.
For those of you who don’t know:
WENIFF LAB, is a 1-week workshop that teaches young people the whole process of film production. From networking and brainstorming, to screen-writing, recording and editing – we cover everything. We believe that learning is a lifetime process and it does not have an ending date. But we also believe that, if we give our young people the most important techniques and tools, they will be ready to start this journey because their roots will be strong.
Every year we invite film producers to lead this journey. This year WENIFF Lab is led by LD studio, a group of ambitious and hardworking young people.
At the end of every season, several films are produced and one of them is rewarded with gratitude, a medal and a sum of 5000kr. Finally the film is screened at our festival, but we also are in touch with other festivals to help them travel and be promoted.
What exactly is included in the curriculum and what do young people gain during this week of intensive work?
DAY 1: NETWORKING
NETWORKING is one of the key words of this century. There begins the expansion of knowledge and also its transformation into something that can be touched and shared.
We devised WENIFF Lab knowing that networking should be the first step young people should take. This is why, the moment you become part of the group, you will become part of a family that works together and helps you whenever you need it.
DAY 2: BRAINSTORMING
BRAINSTORMING is what we do, during our second day of WENIFF lab.
We believe that, in order to create something truly special, we have to spread our ideas and discuss them with other people. Thus, they travel, grow, add value and the final result is always beautiful.
DAY 3: WRITING
Third day is all about WRITING.
In groups, we start writing down our ideas and finalizing them into scripts. All this process is done while we are being monitored by a movie director. This is an exciting part of our journey because we see things happening and our ideas start taking their form.
DAY 4: GETTING READY TO RECORD
4th day of WENIFF Lab is filled with excitement – because we find the actors and get ready to shoot.
Through the years, it always made us so happy to monitor this process and to testify the first steps of, what can possibly be, an amazing journey for our students.
DAY 5: EDITING
Film-editing is always a fun thing to do during WENIFF Lab.
When footage get together, we see how a vision comes in life and it makes us love this journey even more.
DAY 6: FILM SCREENING
This is the time when we are nearing the end of this fantastic experience
6th day is the day we feel the joy and the pride of our work. When lights turn down and stories start to flow, we celebrate the amazing step that will leave a mark on our students journey FOREVER.
DAY 7: IT’S TIME TO TALK TO THE WINNERS.
Let’s be honest, each and everyone is a winner during this week because in addition to all of the above, we will present the final projects on the WENIFF stage, during the festival, and help them on their further journey towards promotion.
But, also, the jury of this format chooses a film to reward with a sum of 5000 kr and with gratitude. It is a memory for the group that has gone one step further with work and research.
This beautiful award will go to one of the teams, of this edition. They are all working really hard and we are so proud of them.
