We are very happy to inform you that the first night of the ‘West Nordic International Film Festival’ at ‘Parken Kulturhus’ was successfully concluded last night.
Among many guests and film lovers, we had the pleasure of screening 7 short films.
We started with a fantastic performance by ‘Vestnorsk Filmsenter”:
First film screened was ‘Mor Mi / My mother’. A story of a special mother-son relationship, directed by Christer Steffensen, had it’s WORLD PREMIERE last night. We are happy that they choose WENIFF as their first address to be introduced to their local and international public.
‘KITE’, the second film that was screened last night, evoked another special emotion. The short animated film of the director Amir Qasim, originally from Denmark, got attention from the very first seconds.
The third film in a row was ‘WARSHA’ – a film directed by Dania Bdeir, originally from France & Lebanon, which has reached Sundance and other major world film festivals. WARSHA recounts the journey of searching and finding passion and freedom.
‘When the swallows fly away‘, the only documentary that was screened last night, came from Belgium in Alesund to ‘recapture’ the story of a couple of farmers who, at the age of 80, face unexpected difficulties in life. The documentary directed by PINS Sébastien, brought mixed emotions to the audience.
After traveling to different countries around the world, we returned to Norway, with the short film ‘A song of the sea’ . The local film by director Simon Nilsen, recounted Leif’s ‘battle’ with a strange sea creature.
‘The Way You Sea Me’ was the 6th film that was shown in front of the public, to get attention not only with the narration, but also with the beautiful views of the beaches of Brazil. The international film by director Gabriel Mellin, tells the story of a brief encounter between a boy and a girl who have very different ways of seeing the world around them.
“Leggende Rusticane” was the last film shown to the public, during the first night of the festival. The Italian film directed by Lorenzo Muscoso, tells the story of the journey of Luciano Busacca, one of the last Sicilian storytellers. The beautiful scenes, combined with the story, were exactly what the audience needed to wrap it up pleasantly, before the after party.
TODAY, starting at 16:30, another marathon of movies and emotions awaits us. Films from all over the world will be shown in the ‘parken kulturhus’.
